Patan Patola is one of the most complex weaving traditions in the world — both warp and weft threads are resist-dyed before weaving so the pattern emerges perfectly on both sides of the fabric. A single saree can take six months to a year to complete. This piece comes from the master weavers of Patan, Gujarat, where the tradition has been kept alive for over 700 years by just a handful of families.
