Pure Pashmina Hand Embroidered Sozni Shawl in Natural
Single-Thread Sozni Embroidery · All-Over Floral Jaal · 208 x 107 cm
A pure pashmina shawl in a warm natural beige, densely covered in all-over Sozni embroidery worked in single-thread needlework. The jaal pattern fills the entire field with an intricate lattice of flowers, paisleys and leaves in soft multicolour threads — pink, blue, green, gold and ivory — against the warm ground. A deep navy plain border frames the shawl on all sides. Measures 208 x 107 cm.

Sozni is one of the most refined embroidery traditions of Kashmir — each motif is worked stitch by stitch with a single needle on handspun pashmina, with no backing frame. A shawl of this density takes several months to complete, with multiple artisans working in relay. The craft has been practised in the Kashmir Valley for centuries and is now a GI-protected heritage art.
